THE MAJOR INSPECTION CRITERIA FOR HARD GOODS

Appearance
Do the shape, appearance and color correspond to the description and/or to the reference samples?

Performance
How well does the item function? Some performance tests can be carried out visually and manually on the spot.

Workmanship
Does it correspond to the reference sample? Are the numbers of detected defective samples within the required acceptance limit?

Assembly
Are the components of the item (e.g. telephone sets, radio cassette recorders, hair dryers, etc.) well assembled, without missing screws, surface scratches, loose interior parts, etc.?

Does the machine or apparatus function properly and easily after manipulating it repeatedly?

Accessories
Are all accessories in the individual packing unit (connection cables, micro-phones, instruction manual, earphones, etc...)?

Labeling
Do the labeling and printing correspond to the content? Is each individual item provided with a label/sticker reference? Does color, size, quantity of the item correspond with the labeling or printing on the packing?

Packing
  • Is the merchandise is suitably packed, according to specification;
  • Does the content correspond to the packing list (e.g. a specific color and/or size assortment per case/carton/bag);
  • Do the marks or symbols meet specification;
  • If neutral packing is required, no undesired marks or reference must appear, i.e. manufacturers'/suppliers'/shippers' names or symbols, and the country of origin.
THE MAJOR INSPECTION CRITERIA FOR SOFT GOODS

Material
How does the hand touch and feel compare with the reference sample? Even without reference sample, does it feel hard, soft, smooth or spongy? Is the visual aspect clean and net?

Colors
Do they match the sample swatches, reference sample or color card? Are the various components e.g. of a shirt, blouse, pants etc., of the same shade? For piece-goods is the shading of the dye of the printing uniform throughout?

Style
Is the style in conformity with the description and/or the reference sample? Have seams been executed as required (there're various methods of sewing)?

Accessories
Do the accessories (buckles, belts, ornamentation's) match the sample and description, e.g. are the buckles smooth, well plated without burrs? Are they well attached at the correct place?

Weight Do knitted garments conform to the specified weight per unit or per dozen?

Workmanship
In garments, is the sewing straight, without puckering, without skip or broken stitching? Are the accessories such as zippers, pockets, ornaments positioned and attached correctly? Do pockets level with each other?

Meas.
For garments, as a guideline 10% of the sample size (at least 3 units per size) must be measured in accordance with the measurement specifications and tolerances provided by the client.

Labeling and Hangtag
Most articles are provided with a label or a hangtag. Some countries have Hangtag stringent laws regarding the compulsory labeling of articles. The USA has the "Labeling Act" which amongst other details such as composition, size, care symbols and others, must bear manufacturer's or store name, trade mark or registered number.

During inspection for quality, the checking of the labels must not be neglected. For example, is the indication on the hangtag identical with the sewn-in label in the garment? Is the size the same?

Assortment
The assortment check is also important. Large retail chain stores distribute standard packed items to their numerous sales outlets, i.e. a master carton will contain 10 red, 50 black and 30 green. Some unscrupulous manufacturers may replace the shortage by some other color or size.

Marking
External markings on cases/cartons/boxes/bales should comply with clients' particular requirements. In certain cases the buyer insists on neutral packing that means that manufacturers/ suppliers/name and country of origin are not to appear.

CARTON CHECK -

Even though the goods are well manufactured without any defects, they can be damaged if the cartons are not strong enough. This is due to long transportation upon receipt by the buyer. So, cartons checks will be done during our inspection and details are as follows:
  1. Constructions of export carton are adequate to hold?
  2. Contain in weight and size?
  3. Cartons dry and stored in dry conditions?
  4. Cartons properly closed and secured?
  5. Drop test carried out on 3 export cartons: (according to different products and informed by client)
Export cartons dropped down from a prescribed height versus carton weight to the floor.
  • On the bottom corner

Any problem encountered during the carton check will be reported in the report as a special attention.

You can therefore make the appropriate decision on the basis of the information we will provide you.
